About Me

Hello!

I am excited to be a school counselor at Discovery High School. I graduated from Alfred University, earning my M.S. in school counseling. I have worked for 19 years at the New York City Department of Education, with the last four years as a school counselor.  I am committed to positively impacting our students' lives by creating academic plans and providing emotional support throughout their studies.  I am deeply committed to assisting at-risk students to overcome obstacles and achieve their goal of graduating.

About Me

As a 12th grade Social Studies teacher and college advisor, most of my role at Discovery has me working primarily with seniors. From discussing historical and current events within America in an effort to better understand the form and function of our government, to discussing students current and future plans for themselves, my role at Discovery has students thinking through past, present and future possible events that influence their daily lives. I love working with seniors and helping them conceptualize where they are and what steps they needs to take to get where they want to be: both in their personal/professional lives, and in their daily life as members of this American society.

About Me

Hi! I’m Ms. Mintz and I’m the social worker at Discovery. I started working at Discovery September 2021, right after I graduated from Syracuse University and continued my education at Fordham University. My job here is to provide resources and support to students to promote their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic well-being. My favorite thing about working at Discovery is the opportunity to form meaningful connections with students. I am passionate about creating a more compassionate and supportive environment for everyone, and working with students to be better capable of doing the same for their peers!

About Me

I maintain systems of communications between families and the whole school regarding students' emotional well-being, academic performance, and medical needs.

As an alumni of Discovery High School, it brings me great joy to work amongst the people who helped me grow into the woman I am today.  My wish is to serve the families and students from my community and provide them with the support they deserve to have a school academic year.
