Preparing Students for the Rigors of College & the World of Tomorrow
DISCOVERY HIGH SCHOOL
At Discovery, students are prepared for the rigor of college and life after high school. Students learn how to learn, how to think about their own thinking, and how to acquire the necessary skills they will need to be successful in the world of tomorrow. At our school, every student discovers (and explores) her or his potential.
Our Educational Vision

Our Mission
At Discovery, teachers’ collective mission is to provide students with learning experiences that enable them to engender deep and sophisticated levels of comprehension and acquire complex cognitive capabilities, both of which students can transfer to new and different contexts in their present lives, in college, and in the world of tomorrow.

Dear Parents/Guardians/Family Members and Friends:
I want to welcome you to the Discovery HS family and community. I invite you to become part of Discovery’s community by getting involved in all that we have to offer. By working together, we can make Discovery HS an even better learning institution, an institution that can develop future productive citizens of our society.
I would love to hear your ideas, suggestions, and questions. Our Parent Association, School Leadership Team, and Parent Coordinator all meet at least once a month to assess what is going well in Discovery and what improvements could make it go even better. You are cordially invited to join one or more of these teams, to visit our parent coordinator, and find out how you could have an impact on what is happening in your child’s school.
Please make every effort to stay in touch with the school’s personnel—teachers, guidance counselors, deans, and administrators. Don’t just wait till open-school night to hear about your child’s progress. We have multiple and diverse forms of reciprocal communication between you and the school. (Jupiter Grades is one example; see another link on this website for more information.)
Our commitment to you is that we will work tirelessly to ensure that your child is reaching his or her fullest potential; and we will work indefatigably towards making sure that our relationship will facilitate this commitment.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please feel free to contact Ms. Duran, our parent coordinator, at 718-733-3872, extension 2545.
Best Regards,
Rolando Rivera
